I was just wondering if i should be concerned at all with this, i am 22 years old and i found over the years i have bad memory, i constantly misplaced my keys, wallet etc, often when people tell me something i can forget it in a 5 minute span, sometimes i remember but i forget it the very next day.I find i have a good long term memory, remembering something from 5 years ago etc, but a bad short term memory, is this something i should get checked about or is it normal?

You might want to get it checked out. You're pretty young for this to happen.
Standard question for this issue: Do you drink much or do any drugs? If so, that's likely the cause.
If not, it could just be that you're not paying attention b/c your mind is on other things. Is there something that's been worrying you or that you've been obseesing about lately?
If none of those things apply, you may want to see your family doctor or a GP if you don't have a family doctor. It could be nothing, but it's worth checking out just in case. At least if the doctor tells you it's nothing you won't have to worry about it anymore, right?

Could be a symptom of depression or anxiety. If so, counseling is advisable.

Some people have terrible memory so this isn't uncommon.
However, if this is causing problems in your daily functioning, you may want to ask your doctor for a stimulant like those prescribed for ADD and ADHD since they can enhance memory and increase concentration.

This could be a sign that your lacking certain vital chemicals in your brain> A simple blood test is in order to see if this is the case. For example, my Psych Dr. Discovered that I am lacking or short on Vitamin B12> it is beggining to cause me to have the exact same symtoms as you have described. The Dr . informed me if this contiunes to decrease I am at risk od Altimers> it is something that cannot be changed either. ALL because of a chemical shortage!
I advise you to go to your DR. ASAP, and let him know what is going on. This can be fixed , the sooner the better. If you are not drinking or doing drugs, then I am leaning more on something like this.

Are you currently taking any meds? The reason I ask is because some are known to cause memory lapse and/or memory loss. I take 5 different meds for my bipolar disorder and have severe short term memory as a result.
