I didnt get as dizzy on the diovan, but I didnt like it. was on a much lower dosage. but expect a good 20 pund weight gain within a year.

Some people will disagree others will agree. meds effect everyone differently, but diovan's side effects is weight gain and many complain about it who take it.

HI: You were on a lower dose??? I thought 80 was the lowest??? But I could be very wrong...

Oh if I start to gain weight I'm off it, I just lost 11 pounds down to 148...I'm just very tired, not dizzy tho...

What do you take at the moment, I'm so new to all this....

Thank you for the email

You need to get the package insert & read about every new drug you take. Don't rely on your Dr. to tell you the info because he or she probably doesn't know. Fam

i think 60 mg diovan is what i started on but when i went back to the doc the other day and it was 173/129 ,, they flipped out

i thought they was going to stroke,, but i went from 60 to 120 mg and as of the other day it was bumped on up to 180mg of diovan,, but i gots a heart test in a few days,, next thursday actually,,

now for the weight gain,, it will happen anytime you on blood pressure because its slowing your heart rate down,,,

i think if you gain weight your bodies trying to regulate itself to get the weight off and speeds up ur heart to deal with the weight.. or other conditions like pain will cause elevated BP,,

Thank you everyone:

I also read the inserts, I did not see the "SULFA" part....Duh to me...

I am going to see my family Dr. on Tuesday, the specialist gave me these two pills, my Dr. knows of all my allergies from head to toe...He also wants me on BP pills, but so far having a hard time finding one I don't react to...I have no idea what he will try next...

So far the two they tried give me "BEE STING" feeling all over my body within 6-7 hours after taking it.....But it did lower my BP to 117-77...I did stop taking it until I see him on Tuesday and of couse its back up to 140-90 at times 144-95...I hate this...

Happy Mother's Day to all!!!

OK folks, we all need to calm down! All bp meds do not cause weight gain. I've been on them for 2 years and have had no problems with weight gain.

Next, Diovan does not have sulfa in it. It does however have a chemical makeup similar to sulfa drugs. Depending on what your reaction is to sulfa drugs, you may or may not be able to take one that has the sulfa drug caution on it. There is no way to know unless you take it. My sister and I both are allergic to sulfa drugs. She takes Celebrex with no problems. I took Diovan and had The "belches" for about 4 months but it eventually went away. My allergy to sulfa is that I throw it up...sort of difficult to have it work if you can't keep it down. So we knew I might have digestive issues and i did but I gutted it out and all was fine.

I am now on Lisinopril. Had to reduce the dosage after 3 days as my bp was way too low (82/52!). I've taken my 2nd pill of the lower dose and my bp just now was back to 114/70. Much better! I might actually get some chores done today.

Hi:

I'm not worried about the weight gain, heck if that happens nothing I can do about it...:)

Sulfa drugs, well this pill did the same thing "Diovan" my hands and feet were going numb, bee sting feeling all over my body (just like when I'm on sulfa), but the Avapro did the same thing, so I have no idea....A friend of mine takes Benicar and loves it, I have a list to go over with my Dr. when I see him Tuesday...

But, I am allergic to so much, I can't take abx's my Dr's have a very hard time with me, I'm lucky to take an asprin without a reaction of some sort...Its hard on me and them.

Thank you so much for the emails
Julie
