I posted yesterday about going to the PM doc. Well I wasn't sure if I should say anything but after today I am sure you all need to know.
I live about 45 min from my doc's office. When I left their office about 15 minutes later my driver's side back tire FELL OFF. I drive a 2003 Explorer. The lugnuts are covered with a cap. The reason my tired fell off was because someone stole 4 out of 5 lugnuts off my tire. When the tow truck came and got my and my kids he took the cap off and said no way did they 'fall off'. My mechanic said my car was tampered with. If the lugnuts 'fell off' my back tire they would have been rolling around inside the cap. There was no way they would have just fell off my car into the road.
So I have called the dr's office to see if they have cameras in the parking lot-the answer was of course no. I have called the police. They came by my house this afternoon and said there was nothing they could do. It has happend to 3 people I know of here in Atlanta Georgia.
PLEASE look at your lugnuts. Keep an eye on them. Some cars the lugnuts are visable but some have caps over them-like mine and you won't know until you get into an accident. I did not roll over Thank God but it was CLOSE. We would have rolled and died since we were in my SUV. PLEASE keep an eye on your cars.
Stay safe,
Amy

Isn't there a special tool that comes with your vehicle that you have to use to get the lugnuts off? This is really weird that someone could just walk up to your vehicle and do this as they are designed (locked) in some way, aren't they? Quite a professional at work here.
I am really sorry that this happened to you and your family and glad everyone is alright.
Your post is very thoughtful and will help others in your area, I'm sure.
