I have had high BP from age 32. I do not have cardivascular problems. I developed BP issues simultaneously to developing chronic anxiety/panic disorder after a stressful event in my life.

I am 90% alright most of the time, but the first thing that happens when I get stressed or upset is my BP goes up. I know that sometimes at work my BP goes up especially if I spend alot of time on the same task at work. It also happens if I talk too much. This then makes me woryy that maybe it's gone too high.

Maybe it has to do with excessive concentration or something. Anyways, I don't really have a stressful job. It's just that it requires focus and attention to detail. I am wondering if anyone else has trouble with BP at work. What have you tried? When I first came down with anxiety/BP I was having a hard time working altogether. It has taken me a long time to control my anxiety.

Thank you,

I had perfect blood pressure until I was 48 years old. My job required a physical exam every 2 years, I was not even aware that I had high blood pressure, I was increasingly having headaches that aspirin and ibuprophen could not control. I never thought to check my blood pressure. During my physical my bp was 200/120 as you could imagine I was about to freak out. My job required that I be at least borderline or below(140/90) my continued employment depended on it. It took me 2 months, but I finally got it under control. My high blood pressure didn't have anything to do with anxiety, I believe it had more to do with Heredity, as all my family members develope high blood pressure at around that age. What medications do you take for your high blood pressure?

My father's family also have high blood pressure. My brother also has it too. I think that I may have eventually developed it,but maybe it came on earlier due to my anxiety.

I take a beta blocker twice a day and also take Atecand 8mg twice a day. If it wasn't for this blood pressure issue I would be on top of the world. I know that when I get a headache at work my BP has probably gone up. I start getting a mild headache with BP only at 135/85. Then I start to stress about it and it interferes with my job.

X2, at a younger age than 15, my blood pressure...even around 130/85, would give me massive headaches and still does...so annoying, i always wondered why I get these massive headaches when I was child...just randomly sitting in a classroom listenting to the teacher and then bam! massive pounding headache

I have never measured at work. I have a fairly stressful job, in that the work piles up fast, deadlines loom, and clients get ornery. I would not be surprised if my BP rises at times during the day, but I think that is natural for anyone. If I am getting good measurements in the morning and again at night, I feel good about my BP.

That was well said Caberg. I keep forgetting that "normals" also have BP rises and it's not just hypertensives.

Thank you
