I had to get a life insurance physical this morning. We have a baby due in a couple of weeks and I want to make sure the family is taken care of in case something happens to me. Since my BP appears to be anxiety-driven, and the doctor's office really gets it going, I was fairly concerned with how the physcial would go (which, of course, will only lead to the vicious cycle). So, the nurse did three readings throughout the course of the exam and I measured at: 124/84, 122/82, 124/84. I feel pretty good about those readings, especially since I was feeling anxious when she was taking them.

Any one else have to deal with the life insurance physical?

I got my life insurance and disability cover before my health issues kicked in. When you have anxiety & BP, insurance companies don't want to come anywhere near you especially for disability cover.

Insurance companies have guidlines, but underwriters tend to look at the big picture. Someone like me is much riskier to cover than someone who has well controlled essential hypertension.

Your numbers look good to me.
