I recently had a physical. My Dr said both my "good" and "bad" cholesteral levels came back very good. However, he said I have a high "small particle count". Next thing I know he has prescribed Trilipix for me to take each day.
Is there technical name for "small particle count" so that I can explore what this really means to me?
I saw on the Trilipix web site that Alchohol should be avoided while taking Trilipix. I don't consume large amounts of beer but once a week my buddies and I get together and have a couple 2 or 3 beers. The warning looked to be for alchohol in general as it relates to liver disease so trying to determine the actual risk?
Thanks

Perhaps they mean "small dense LDL" or "pattern B", which is considered to be more dangerous than "large buoyant LDL" or "pattern A"?
Presumably, they did something like Atherotech's VAP test, which gives additional information beyond the usual HDL, LDL, triglyceride levels. The report from such a test should show what type of LDL, what type of HDL, and how much Lp(a) you have, in addition to the usual numbers.
