My mother has had Lupus for 1 year. She is unable to work and is we cannot afford her current health insurance policy. WHAT HEALTH PROVIDER COVERS LUPUS AS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION?

There are no health insurances that will cover a pre-existing
condition. Most likely she will be turned down for insurance.
If there is any thing you can do to keep the policy she has, do it.
Maybe she could make it more affordable by raising the deductable. The only other thing is if her financial condition
is such that she she has very little she should look into medicade.
Or some other social program. You may have to do some calling around to see what help is available in your state. Social services
in the hospital may be able to give you some info. Unfortunately,
Lupus can be an expensive disease.

There is a govt. program that you can get through blue cross I beleive. I will see if I can get the name. And you will no be able to get regular insurance. This govt program is for high risk, pre existing people. Very expensive from what I understand.

Yes, I think it's the program that requires Blue cross to have open enrolement once or twice a year for anyone to apply for ins.
I just didn't mention it before because I knew it was costly and that is her problem already with the other ins.
If she wants to move I think there is a state out west that is experimenting with health coverage for all. I don't remember
what state but maybe you could find out by searching online.

She might look into disability. I've heard it can take a year or
longer to get on but it's a thought,

There are insurances that cover pre-existing conditions. I have had both United Healthcare and Aetna which both covered pre-existing conditions I have. Some states have laws preventing insurance companies from discriminating.

The ones I've come incontact with don't. But the real question is
if you can find insurance that will cover pre-existing will
it be affordable? Probably not.
