PINKYPRISCILLA 10-17-2003, 01:16 PM Is lupus inherited from family genes? Sponsor lally 10-17-2003, 08:30 PM No although the predisposition might be inherited. Even identical twins don't both develop lupus although the chances are much higher It is said that there is a 10% chance if there is lupus in the family or a related disease lally [This message has been edited by lally (edited 10-17-2003).] vrie 10-17-2003, 09:41 PM There are arguments either way on this. In my mother's case, her docs believe there is a hereditary component, since she had an aunt and an uncle with lupus, as well as numerous other relatives with "organ problems" usually kidney. Considering that I have developed allergies and other things that she did, I keep being tempted to try to find a doc that would test me! rayofsunshine 10-19-2003, 12:03 PM i believe lupus is inherited. along with myself, my father, grandmother are both diagnosed with sle. my younger sister has shown signs, although nothing has shown up in test, but she suffers frequent migraines, fainting spell, fatigue, and she also gets rashes on her face. my older brother also get the rashes. regards rayofsunshine PINKYPRISCILLA 10-20-2003, 03:10 PM My mother has it. I did take the ana antibody test which showed that I don't have Lupus as of the present. |
