I was wondering if anyone has gone to one of these doctorsfor their treatment of lupus? And what do they exactly do for lupus/immune system problems?

Hey Deb,

Simply put, an Immunologist specializes in diseases involving the immune system, like Lupus and RA. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Dana

Thanks again, Well my mom feels that she
is getting worse so I think we should see
an immunologist, Her Rheumy isn't so sharp
when it comes to blood work, and lymphocyte
problems.

On the whole you would do better to find a lupus expert rheumatologist who will refer you as necessary to other specialists.

There are thousands of conditions apart from autoimmine connective tissue diseases caused by malfunctions of the immune system.
All the best

Thanks Lally,

I think we should try a more aggressive approach
because my mom is getting worse instead of better.
He doesn't check her lupus ana that frequently, and
he says she is in a flare, says he was going to
change some meds., then changed his mind saying that
she is taking too many meds . What kind of a reason is this? Then, he never had her go for a bone density test
and when she did it was too late she found out that she has
osteo and stenosis of the spine.
He doesn't do anything unless you request it to him
first????!!! What ever happened to PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE? This is disturbing to me.

I agree with you from the sound of it !
This is far too laid back to put it kindly. Do you have no options ?

All the Best

I guess we will try to find an immunologist who can
really look at her blood /immune system.

Are you having good results with your treatment?
