Has anyone ever had problems with this? And if so, did it get better? My last question is, if you had AA, were you drinking a lot of diet pop/sweetener at the time?

I had a bout of this condition and at the time was drinking a lot of diet pop. I read on these boards that someone felt aspartame was linked to AA. Anyway, I stopped all of those products and slowly my hair grew back. I know that this might have been a coincidence but I do honestly think my stopping the diet pops/sweetener had something to do with it.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone out there had the same problem.

I have had alopecia areata several times. Caused round spots totally bald and about an inch in diameter on the back of my head.

But each case occurred during very stressful periods in my life. One such period was the death of my wife of 53 years.

In each case (3 so far), my hair grew back in three or four months.

Don't know about aspartame. I drink an 8 ounce glass of cola daily, and don't know what sweeteners were used (CocaCola, mainly).

I have had AA for over 15 years. It has never gone completely away, just moved around. At one time, it was really bad. I started getting allergy shots and it is almost gone for the first time in 15 years.
