Has anyone ever noticed raspberry colored patches or little lines around the area just above the ankle--like around the sock area or at the top of boots? Do you think it could be that I am taking too many blood thinning supplements and that little capillaries are bleeding under the skin? should I use vitamin K cream on those? I don't have this all the time. It usually pops up in the summer or when pressure is applied there during hiking or skiing. It looks like a slight reddish "breakout" or a rash around the edges of socks, etc. It does not appear on the feet themselves, just on the top where the socks stop.

Maybe your socks are too tight in that area. Try wearing socks without elastic. That might help.

this is weird. I have got those same marks, almost like a rash, but sometimes socks and sometimes not. The only time I've noticed it is after I've been to a concert, usually in warmer weather. Hmmmmm?

I also get a rash in the same place during winter when I wear socks. I think mine has something to do with dry skin so I rub moisturiser into it twice a day and it goes away.

I think this is called exercise-induced capillaritis, it's harmless. Besides exercise, it can also be caused by an allergic reaction to medications, dye, food preservatives or rubber (possibly the elastic in socks?).

I think that is it--capillaritis! I put cream on it and it went away, too. I don't guess all of you are on blood thinning things like aspirin or fish oil gels, so I guess anyone can get this if there is pressure on the legs. I did not get this when I was younger, only when I got into my 60's or so. I am glad when I hear that others are not too concerned about this. Thanks. I can handle it now.
