I was recently going through some testing for possible MS, when CSF showed a positive antibody titer for Lyme antibody IgG, even though the Western Blot serum was negative. I have been advised by my doctor to take another Western Blot with a different Lab processing unit which measures more bands. However, with the clinical symptoms and the positive CSF titer, she wants to start me on a PICC line with rocephin. I understand that Rocefin is a 3rd generation Cephalosporin and very effective. I am concerned about having a PICC line for 3 months though. The doctor would like to start me on this even before the next blood test results come back (7-10 days). We believe that I have had Lyme since 1997 when I also had a scare with meningoencephalitis which at that time was of unknown etiology? However, if indeed Lyme, many things now make sense.

Has anyone been treated with Rocephin? a PICC line? and when the Western Blots come back negative ??

Yes my grandson (I'm raising) has a pic line in his chest w/rocephrin. He had lyme at age 4 thought it was ok & somehow came back thru the yrs. He has been on it for 3 months now will be on it for a total of 6mo. If it makes you feel any better his Dr consulted w/a world famous lyme dr who told her to do that along w/30 HBOT treatments. So far most of the symptoms he had are gone so thats good. Any questions just ask, good luck.
