i have a friend who is pregnant and was just diagnosed with lyme's disease about 3 weeks ago, although she remembers having a rash (not bullseye) on her neck/shoulder about 2 months earlier. does anyone have ANY information at all about lyme's disease and pregnancy that i can pass on to her? any info, suggestions, thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I am very concerned about your friend. How far along is she in her pregnancy? Did she contract the Lyme before or during her pregnancy? You are a good friend to seek help for her, because I know from experience that she does not feel like seeking help for herself. What are the doctors doing to treat her?
I would be very interested in knowing how they are handling this. I wish her the best. Please keep me posted.

You are a good friend. Lyme Disease can be passed through pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is important for the woman to be treated with a safe antibiotic throughout the pregnancy to minimize the risk to the baby.

There is an excellent Lyme pediatrician in New Haven, CT. His name is Dr. Charles Ray Jones. Please have your friend call his office so she can get the best care for her and her baby.
