I just had my first OB and finished 10 days of Valtrex. After 8 days I felt great, no pain but still little marks. Day 9 I did some shaving.. maybe too soon because i`ve been pretty itchy for the past few days. It was really hard to sleep last night because of it. But ì`m not even sure thats it because its itchy in places i didnt shave. might it have gotten better than worse again? (maybe i didnt help last night by having sex in a hot tub..?)

the hot tub, shaving, or anything in the area can be unhelpful, definitely.
I was itchy towards the end of OB's, but it wasn't until I had a few that I really knew for sure when they were on the way out. It's so individual that it's difficult to ever really know what to expect.

thanks... as long as its just that i slowed the healing and not that its coming back or something.. oh i also used a tanning bed the other day. can that be irritating?

the tanning bed could probably be irritating- a lot of people with herpes find it to be triggered by a lot of sun exposure. Usually, they referring to the mouth area, unless they frequent a lot of nude beaches, but it makes sense that a tanning bed would aggravate the situation.

Sex, shaving, clothes that rub the area too much- I avoid all that stuff during outbreaks b/c it just seems to irritate the sores (and if your partner is hsv-free, you definitely shouldn't have sex, as it increases his chances of getting it quite a bit). Irritated sores stick around longer than necessary.
