I have a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck behind my ear on that long muscle. Its the only one I have. I am not sick aside from seasonl allergies that bring stuffiness, drainage and puffy eyes. Could this be the cause? I'm really worried. Its been this way since Christmas. Although it did go down in size when I was taking steroids and antibiotics but soon came back. Please help.

I have a similar problem. I have a swollen lymph node on my neck over my carotid artery. I had an ultra sound done and the lymph node looks normal, but the only way to be sure is a biopsy. A had 3 fine needle biopsies on it and none of them reached the node and only drew blood. I have to pay a huge co-pay for a failed procedure. Now my only alternative is an ultrasound guided biopsy. I have no symptoms of any kind other than the swollen lymph node. I have read that lymph nodes can become swollen due to a virus and never return to their normal size. So I don't really know if I should forget the ultrasound guided biopsy of what.
Your lymph node situation could be the same. I have even read where someone's lymph node has been swollen for years. It would be interesting to know if anyone with lymphoma had no symptoms other than one swollen lymph node.

Yes I would love to know. Mine is the size of an eraser on a pencil and I can only feel it if I turn my head (my lump is on the left side of my neck and can onlyfeel it if I turn my neck to the right). Should I be worried? How large should it be before I get worried?

I don't know the answer to your question. I am waiting for the doctor to call with for my ultrasound guided biopsy appointment. Part of me says that it is nothing and I am just wasting their time and my money. Then the other part says, better to be safe than sorry. They say to catch things early. But I have no symptoms other than this painless, swollen lymph node.
I discovered the swollen lymph node by accident, so who knows how long it has been swollen.

I found mine by accident as well. I was scratching my neck while putting up my Christmas Tree and there it was. I've showed my doctor and he said Hmmmmm felt it and said it was ok. Who knows. I cant have anything done about it yet because I am currently waiting on my results from an abnormal mammogram which showed a fibroadenoma and I dont have insurance. So.........If the fibroadenoma gets bigger I will have to have it removed in 6 months.

I had lymphoma last year. I found a swollen lymph node under my arm. I did not think I had any other symptoms but in hind sight I was tired and fatigued, not really noticing it. It can be diagnosed and treated. I was told the majority of the time a swollen lymph node is not serious. It is very normal for lymph nodes to swell when their is a problem such as a cold. Go have a doctor take a look instead of getting mis information on here.
