I was diagnosed with TMJ about four years ago. Recently, my jaw moved back where it was and I have to start wearing appliances to correct it and then one just at night to keep it that way. anyway, recently, i started to have tingling in the feet, hands, arms and legs that comes and goes. once in awhile it feels like something (like a bug) is on my skin. i've always had the tingling in my cheek area of my face, but this is new. anyone else experience this? i am having am MRI in two days to rule out anything serious.
thanks.
thanks.

Its pretty common with me - my hands are almost constantly feeling numb and/or burning and then sometimes the lack all sensation or feeling yet water always feels bubbly to the touch - yet elsewhere, primarily my face, chest and sometimes my legs it feels tingly or like bugs are crawling on my skin. Every once in a while I will get little muscle twitches or tics around the mouth or eyes and my calve muscles as well. I am pretty sure it is due to nerve compression somewhere - either the neck or how the jaw is positioned.
When it first started I had a needle EMG done by a neurologist - very painful btw- but all that does is detect the time it takes muscles to respond to stimulus or pain - so it basically looks for lack of or sluggish response to pain to indicate there is a neurological condition affecting the muscles - what my test showed was not a lack of or delayed response but an over response meaning my muscles were stressed and therefore overstimulated or reactive - nothing I didn't know already. I'll never have that test done again - ouch!

thanks for the reply, Thelma-Louise. it always makes me feel better to know i share common symptoms and that i'm not crazy! right now i'm having so much anxiety that a lot of these symptoms can come from that too. i'll be glad when my MRI results are in next tuesday. thanks

Hi, I do have the numbness and tingling too from tmj and the resulting body misalignment.
On the other hand when I was not aware of the dental-tmj problem caused in my mouth by a dental work and I had these symptoms I found out that it these symptoms are common for some B-vits deficiency. Forgot which one, either B2 or B6. So I'd just focus on foods with high B content like rye bread, whole grains and it seemed to work pretty well then!! It's no harm to try. We need high doses of B to handle stress (which is a sure consequence of going to dentists ;)) . So figure out what causes tingling!

That's interesting about thinking you had a vitamin deficiency. When my TMJ was starting to get bad in my early 20's, I had all this extra anxiety and energy and no explanation for it. I would try all of these different B vitamins thinking that I would find the "magic bullet" that would cure me of my anxiety and energy issues.
Like I said before, this happened really gradually with me. That was before I even noted tension/distortion in other parts of my body... it was just in my jaws. It's unbelievable where it has gone from that point...
