What are the begging signs of herpes? My ex and I split up and he slept with someone after I had left and he had protected sex but where the condom ended he had a bump for a little while and went away about and a half months ago and hasn't had it since but he is still worried if he has something or not. What should I tell him to look out for?

Hi:)

First Herpes presents itself in different ways sometimes not everyone has the same symptoms, some may have a mild OB the first time , some people may never have any symptoms at all... A bump could be many things, an ingrown hair, an swollen gland depends on where it is located, but then again it could be a sign of Herpes. If he experienced some mild itching and burning or both and then the bump appeared, good possibility, some people have a full blown OB, with fever, headache, swollen glands usually in genital area, extreme fatigue, body aches and pains, it can mimick the FLU, except for the bump or blisters appear where you first came in contact with the virus , it can take anywhere from 2-25 days after initial contact with an infected partner. My best advice would be for him to go and have a test for the virus but if it has been less then 4 months the test will most likely come back negative Herpes can take up to four months for the antibodies to show up in the blood stream after you are exposed so it is best to be re-tested if you get a first time negative just to be sure, The IgG is the best and most reliable on the Market.. Best Of Luck... Take Care

Not to sound snotty but you stated he was your "EX" He's not your responsibility any longer. If he gets a sore he should obviously go to a doctor and have it swabbed and cultured.

Also, (John this is for you too) Condoms do not protect you 100% from the virus. And John, Size has nothing to do with the other skin that the penis comes in contact with. Herpes does not live only inside the vagina.. Your remark of "him" being big led me to believe that you figured only area of herpes was the vagina.

He may be your EX, but it is your moral responsibility to share the correct info and warn him about the possible effects. Advise him to take a diagnostic test.
