It depends on the type of blood test.. If it was an IGM i wouldnt go by those results.. if it was the IgG type specific...they are pretty accurate. To be on the safe side I would retest in 4 months if the IgG number was a low positive (if that is the test you had done)

But just to answer your question yes.. you can in fact have it and never had had an outbreak. You could have written it off thinking it was something else.. or you could just be an "asymptomatic" person meaning that you have the virus without outbreaks.

Also..if you have ever had a cold sore on your lip..that is herpes.. a lot of people do not realize that.

Please know if you do have this.. even though you havent had an outbreak the risk of transmitting it to a partner is always there.. even if using an condom. :):)
