Yesterday I suddenly noticed a toothache in one of my molars that has a crown on it. I've had the crown for about 7 years though and it's never caused any problems. Now it hurts when I chew or clench my teeth.
I'm afraid I am going to need the crown redone..has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know what could be causing the pain? The crown doesn't seem loose or anything.

Crowns have an average lifespan of 7-10 years. Your crown could have developed another cavity below it, or your bite might have changed and a simple occlusal adjustment would help. Either way, it would be a good idea to check back with your dentist to evaulate it.
