I just returned from having my 2nd laser perio treatment in 3 years-this time only for my molars. Dentist said I keep "sliding down the slope" and there is no real cure, just slowing down the progression. I have already lost 3 of the very back molars, and he says eventually the 4th one will go also. I just don't know what to to anymore- it's so depressing! Has anyone experienced this battle, and if so, is there any hopeful outlook to this? Also, I have heard that CoQ10 helps, has anyone tried it with positive results?

What else are you doing to treat the gum disease? Prescription mouth rinses and regular cleanings do wonders.
Vitamin C will help as well, your gums require it to form stronger crosslinks between collagen fibers.

I get perio cleaning done every 4 months, rinse with Peridex, brush with a sonic, and floss of course. What else can I do??

I can empathize. I brush 3 times a day, thoroughly. Not for 2 minutes for my whole mouth, but 2 minutes per arch. I floss twice a day and rinse with peridex, and go faithfully every 3 months for a cleaning, where my dentist is quite thorough.

All of this, not to get better, or have any kind of improvement, but just to remain stable. Sometimes I feel like periodontal maintenance is a matter of two proactive treatments (cleaning, and scaling/planing) to prevent further bone loss, and a matter of just waiting for the next thing to go wrong.
