It depends.
Some people may be able to improve their numbers into the desirable ranges by cleaning up their diet, exercising, and losing excess body fat, so that they do not need any drugs (or can discontinue using drugs) for blood cholesterol purposes. Others may not be able to, although if they clean up their diet, exercise, and lose excess body fat, they may be able to use lower dosages or cholesterol drugs, or perhaps different drugs with fewer side effects.
