Before having been formally diagnosed with PCOS by my endocrinologist, I had suspected I'd had it for several years.
I had all of the characteristic symptoms : hair loss, hirsutism, weight problems, acne, irregular/ absent menses, etc.

Over the course of the last two years or so, I've lost over 50lbs through dieting and exercise. It was not a regimen from my doctor, but something I myself took on. I have been taking 50mg Spironolactone for almost a year, and my dose was increased from once to twice a day about 6 months ago.
I was also taking a generic birth control pill called Ocella. I have not been able to afford it, so I stopped taking it several months ago.

My symptoms, however, have hardly changed. I do experience less acne and my periods have become mostly regular, but everything else is the same. Should I go back to the doctor? Am I doing something wrong, other than quitting the contraceptive?

Should it be like this even with continued and significant weight loss?

if you dont mind me asking, what regimen did you use to lose 50lbs? I have been suffering with this problem since I was 14 years old. I just want to lose weight and be happy again.
