I posted a while back, but no one responded. I would just like some feedback, please.

I have had two "large" lymph nodes on either side of my neck towards the base. I have known and felt them for over 10 years. (I am 24 right now.) They are soft and moveable and do not hurt. Lately, however, I have become aware of some lymph nodes in the collar bone area on the right side of my body. I am rather thin, so I am hoping that these are normal. I will make a doctor's appointment on Monday, but what do others think? I do not have any "b" symptoms-night sweats, loss of appetite, etc., but I am still concerned.

Also, should I make an appointment with an internist, or my regular doctor? Should I go straight to someone who knows more about lymphoma or cancer?

Thanks,
kmcsp

Go to your reg doctor...they will direct you to a specialist if need be. I just took my 16 yr old daughter to a specialist because she had a swollen lymph node. We are a little paranoid because I recently recovered from non hodgkins lymphoma. He said she was fine and lymph nodes are supposed to swell. it is perfectly normal with a cold and allergies. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply! My regular doctor is a family doctor that also specializes in osteopathic medicine. Do you think she will be able to accurately assess if I need a specialist?

Thanks!

I was diagnosed with NHL in 2002 and the only symptoms I had at the time was lower back pain. My internist sent me to have a CT scan and a pathologist diagnosed it as NHL. A biopsy surgery confirmed it and 6 months of chemo and today I'm just fine
