I agree it could be severe enough to be disabling because hers is somewhat severe I think. I'll tell you, I really wondered if it was possible for a person to be mildly retarded and still have a high IQ. Then she was diagnosed with the Non-verbal disorder. My father was mildly retarded and scitzofrantic and my mother has problems.

In any case yes it's very much possible to have such a discrepancy, especially when only one half of the brain is damaged. In NLD one of the features is a discrepancy between practical and verbal IQ, which can lead to an overall low score even though the verbal IQ is comparatively high.

Barring cases of severe retardation, it is always possible for a child to be both gifted and learning disabled.
