I've suffered with anxiety for many years and was prescribed Xanax when my anxiety was at its worst. I didn't want to take anti-depressants for my anxiety, but I started taking Lexapro. The only side effect I've had is drowsiness, but that lessens over time. It's decreased my anxiety a lot. It sounds like your Dr. doesn't take your anxiety seriously. I also had problems with driving and would have to take a Xanax before leaving the house to drive. If I were you, I'd look for another Dr. to help you. I wish you well. Sue
