I started the pill 8 days ago at the first sign of my period.
Before starting the pill (Allesse) I was getting my period EVERY 12 DAYS. Which is VERY annoing for a lot of reasons, I feel completly controled by this stupid bleeding. Before the pill even though every 12 days my periods were on the light side, and lasting 5 days, with 2 days of spotting at the end. Now that I have started the pill I am going onto day 8 of just this constant WATERY blood. Its really thin and just keeps coming. I keep thinking.... ooook... its slowing down, but no, then its starts up again, super bright red and just showing no signs of letting up. Then the "Best" part is, is because i started the hormone pills on day 1 of my period- say I magically stopped bleeding TODAY- ha- unlikely then I only have 13 days until the sugar pills start- THUS- oooo wow, I have gone from a 12 day cycle to a whopping 13 day cycle- YAY !!! :blob_fire
This is so crappy. Especially because I am not going to stop bleeding today, there is no way, its still too constant, so probably I will have less then 12 days of not bleeding this month. My Iron levels are down to 7 - healthy is 75-175. My doctor just keeps saying- wait it out. I am taking iron of course, I just do not get this. MY WHOLE menstrual life I have had PERFECT 35 days cycles. Which were great- I did have a baby but that was 2 years ago, and my normal cycle came back 1 year after birth because I breast fed and am STILL breastfeeding.
This is just really frustrating. and I was wondering if anyone else out there had suffered these short periods- or bleeding constantly on the pill- and am I correct in assuming that my period will be back in 13 days (IF it stops by then, or perhaps I will just bleed right into the next one)

Hey Saquoi, I've never had experience with such short cycles personally, I just had very heavy periods for 6 days, but regular cycle. However I can tell you that when I started the pill two packs ago (am now on placebo week after two packs), I started on the first day of my period and the bleeding was constant for 10 days, the last days were spotting but it was so annoying and I thought it would never end, it was very depressing, especially as on the first pack you get another period after 21 days anyway so I thought gosh I'll be bleeding forever, but apparently it is normal for this to happen when you take the pill on the first day of the period. I had a bad first month with cramps and spotting and everything and vowed to ditch it but trust me - stick it out. My first pill enduced period lasted 4 days and was light, it was a dream. With my second pack I had no spotting whatsoever or any problems and am now awaiting my second pill enduced period (I think it will be the same as last month because I've had no horrible PMS pains like before the pill).
It may or may not sort out or help your periods but stick with it and see how it goes - hopefully it will help you and regulate your periods. Don't let the bleeding with the first pack put you off - I've read about and it happens to most people.

Thank you for your reply, it does help me to hear that this isnt going to last forever. It makes me so frustrated because as a member of the human race I find i demand control over everything, especially my body, and I mean - you I start putting on some pounds, I work out- If I break out- I stop eating at burger king, if my legs are hairy- I shave- if I bleed for weeks straight- i ..... get seriously depressed lol becaues there is NOTHING I can DO ABOUT it. As someone in a brand new relationship this is DEFINATLY not somthing i feel like dealing with, and I wait 10 months for summer- and oh good- NOW my period does this.
Man it is SO depressing, I am like hiding in my basement apartment sulking, this is not healthy. Thanks again, I was thinking about giving up, another human condition, but you have inspired me, it will get better... it will it will it will.

I was exactly the same! I absolutely hate having no control over my own body. I hated the fact that I didn't know when the bleeding would stop and was frustrated at not being able to tell my boyfriend when we could have sex again... and then knew that whenever it stopped the period was due soon anyway so even more wait. But for me it was all worth the wait in the end after a frustrating and uncertain month. Hopefully it will be for you too. Good luck.

I have the exact same problem!! Thank goodness I found this site, I was stressed out before about the bleeding, but after reading what you girls wrote, I felt a lot better. I'm going to Cancun with my bf in late august and I'll hate to bleed on my trip >.<
I'm on my first pack of pill (Junel Fe 1/20), started the second week just yesterday, and I started taking the pill on my first day of period, and the bleeding did not stop ever since. So I bled for 8 days, bright red blood. I really hope that this only last for the first month, even though it's super annoying. I'm hoping it it won't be like this for the second month. Luckily I don't have any other side effects so far, no cramping (but I don't usually cramp anywayz), headache, dizziness, depression (it actually make me happier). I really like this pill so far (although I never tried other pills) and I hate to switch because of the bleeding.
I just have to wait it out and see...
