Hey guys went to the doc today and he said I had a bad case of epeididymits. He put me on cipro 500mg(antibotics) for 30days 2x's a day. Lots of rest and no lifting.Cold packs of ice to keep sweelling down and towel in between legs to keep the testicles up.I hope this is going to work.

Hi Jay,

First time on here in the 'Men's health' section.
Im here on behalf of my hubby and I saw your post and wanted to ask a question.

Did you have any back pain or lower abdominal pain along with the testicle pain?

My husband has had a lot of pain in his left testicle for the last three weeks and it was accompanied by an acute lumbar sprain.

The Doctors don't really seem to have an answer as to why he has the testicular pain, except to say that he possible pulled something down there also.

His back pain is better now but not the testicular pain..

Just wonderin.

Hi gina and yes I had lower abs/back pain. It was awefull. I was bedridden from may 26-july 4th. Now the pain is not that bad. But I know what he is going through. It took three urlogist to dignose me with epididymtis. I called around to several docs and asked if they have dealt with cronic sever cases of epididymitis. I finnaly found a doc that listed to me. Alot of docs brush this off, also alot of guys have this pain and dont know what it is because nobody talkes about it. Tell him no lifting or physical work for a while. That irrates it. Also when he lays down to put a towel between his legs to lift up the testicles. They have to drain the fluid out. Also he needs antibotics because if he has epididymtis its a bactual infection. The doc said it could be viral in the case antibotics would not work. Also ice packs on and around the testicles to keep swelling down. If he has epididymtis this will work. He really needs to talk to a doc that has dealt with this problem. The doc also told me that once you get this it will appear again. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP ME INFORMED.....JAY

Hi Jay,

Good to hear your getting some relief from your pain and some treatment from someone who it sounds like understands and is willing to work WITH you on this pain.

My hubby was really interested when I read your reply back and is going to talk to his Doctor about this epiditimytis(spelling)*S*
Also, they had him going to physical therapy 3 times a week and it really was not helping, in fact, seemed to make the pain a bit worse. Personally, I think the pain levels probably have not changed THAT much since the start of all of this about a month ago. He was on such heavy drugs that it masked the pain all this time, in my opinion, and since they started PT, he had to decrease the pain meds..

He has really good insurance, so we insisted that the Doc order an MRI of the Lower Lumbar Region AND if possible the testicular area. He will be going in for that on the 5th.

I appreciate your posting on here and replying to me..it has definatly given us some more possibilities to look into to bringing an end to this problem.

Thanks for the input and I wish you continued healing and cooperation from your physician.

God Bless!

Hi gina...glad this information is helping your hubby. The docs also put me on alot of pain killers, which made me sick and did not help the real reason im in pain. I had a ultrasound/sonogram of my testicles which they found several small non-cancerous cysts. But the doc does not think this is causing the pain because they are so small. Epididymtis is an infection kinda just like ear or throat infections caused by baceria. It is not a STD. And it takes a long time to heal because its in such a small place. Also tell your husband to wear a joc supporter. It helps the support of the testicles. All this information was given to me from my doc.I hope this helps. And feel free to write back if you have any questions or new information.JAY C IN FT LAUDERDALE. p.s. take advil for the pain and for the inflamtion.

Hey guys the pain is starting to go awaay slowly. Just another question? In the last week my right testicle is rock hard. Usually if i walk around and if Im laying down it will go back to the regular form. And its not when its cold out either. The tissue is just really hard. Maybe it has something to do with the epididymtis. I dont know. Anybody else have this problem? I put a call into my doc. He has not called back yet.
