:confused:About a year ago my big toenail fell off. I never remember injuring it. Anyway, I went to the podiatrist and had the nail tested for fungus (none found). Now I have what looks like a double nail growing (or maybe it's a ridge). Two of my toenails have a brownish-blackish spot, the nails are all thickening, and I have another nail with a very pronounced ridge. I thought I'd try the dermatologist this time. Does it sound like a fungus? Does anything over the counter kill it?

For problems with your toenails, you need to see a podistrist. a Green to brown to black spot can be bacterial infection. If any kind of infection was the reason the nail came off, it could have also compromised the matrix where the nail plate cells are developed. If so, the n the new emerging nailplate can grow in damaged. ANY CHANGE to the nail plate is cause for concern, so please see your dermatologist.
