I am an overweight male, 25 and I have been getting a "fishy smell" around my penis area. I know women get this, but men? I don't have any kind of dripping, or soreness and everything works fine...I just have a constant smell coming from down there. Is this due to obesity? This is not a joke...

Yes, could be from being overweight. Also, are you cut or uncut? If you're uncut it could be caused by smegma buildup under the foreskin. A really good daily cleaning under the foreskin will cut down on the odor from that. If you're cut, I suspect that there is alot of sweat and moisture build up. You could try to use powder after a bath or shower. Gold Bond or even baby powder will absorb any moisture and may prevent this from happening. Good luck!

You may actually have an infection under the foreskin or in your urinary tract. Sometimes a urinary tract infection or a fungal infection under the foreskin can create a powerful fishy odor, like you described. If washing under the foreskin every day in the shower like Lance described doesn't clear the odor, then you need to see a doctor as that odor is due to an infection.

Have you found a way to get rid of the smell? Just curious. I got on the board to post a question just like yours when I saw that you had beat me to it!!!

I have the same problem, however, I don't think it is necessarily due to being overweight, although it could be. I am of average weight and I work out usually 3-4 days a week. I am circumcised but I am cut very loosely and sometimes when I'm soft, the skin will gather up around the head of my penis. I usually shower twice a day, once at home and once at the gym. Even though I shower twice a day I still get a smell from around my penis. I'm sure it is due to the skin gathering up, but what can be done to get rid of it?

If aynbody else out there has any suggestions, let me know!

I haven't found a way yet, but I have an appointment with my Doctor on Thursday. Good Luck, you might want to do that...

well,.. its an infection, no doubt.. just when cleaning, or going to the bathroom.. always wipe off, making sure that isn't wet..don't just shake it.. take paper and wipe off. and when taking showers, cleaning it with soap and pulling the forskin backwards.. to clean it out. don't ask me how I know lol.. my husband isn't cut, but its always smell good hehehe

Don't worry about it. I know what your talking about. Usually this problem is do to not being circumsized. After you urinate, the tip of your penis will give a discharge, and spread at the head of your penis, most cases it will leave a white discharge, which can be over powering, make sure you clean yourself well. I keep a 'wipy' with me that cleans it well.
