i have a serious infection in my facial glands. i am on clindamycin and i am due for my avonex shot. is it advisable to lower my immune system while i already have an infection?

Such a serious question needs to be directed at your MS doctor or his nurse. :angel:
If they are not available, call a doctor on call to get their professional advice and then let your MS doctor know what you were told.

There is absolutely no reason you cant take any antibiotic with Avonex or Rebif...you are not actually lowering your immune system taking the MS drug, BYW- you are actually increasing your already compromised immune system due to the MS....
Antibiotics are actually given WITH avonex and Rebif in clinical trials right now...there is alot of evidence that antibiotics really make us MS ers feel allot better. Just did a round of Zpack myself and of course did 3 injections this week. wish I felt this good all the time...
Go do your shot- no worries.
