Hi everyone, i need some advice re: my son. I hope someone can help. Sorry, but its quite long. About 2 months ago a lump came up under his chin which went away on its own within a week, then he got another one inside his mouth which made the right side of his face swell. That too went away within a week. A week later he got what i thought was laryngitis, cough, hoarseness in the morning & sore throat. Gone in a week. Five weeks ago i noticed a lump in his left neck & took him to my GP who said it was from an infected acne pimple! (He does have quite bad acne). Fast forward 3 weeks lump in neck still there, got a sometimes dry sometimes productive cough, and yesterday he had a small itchy red rash on his inside elbow. Also (sorry) for about the past mont he has been waking up quite congested with itchy , watery eyes. He says he feels well in himself, no fevers at all,no fatigue, no sweats, huge appetite but im still very worried. Has anyone any ideas? I would be very grateful. Thanks.

I'm thinking your son may have allergies. They can be environmental allergies or food allergies amongst other causes. The symptoms you are describing are very common with allergies and about the swollen glands they too swell up with a cold or allergies.
You can try antihistamines if the symptoms subside then you know it was allergies, if you don't want to give your son medication without confirming the diagnosis then go back to the gp and get a referral to see an allergist. Good luck, i hope i was of some help.

Thanks for your reply fufu. Allergies did cross my mind but he's 17 & never had an allergy in his life! The nodes seem slightly bigger so im taking him back to his GP. Thanks again.

You're doing the best thing by taking your son back to the gp. Just wanted to let you know that allergies occur at any age even in someone who has never had them.
Hope you get answers.
