Hello. I'm new here and will be posting in lotsa forums because I have tons of problems. :(

I have been retching during every meal for about 6 months, and my stomach nearly always feels uncomfortable. Considering my lifestyle this was bound to happen someday. Several years ago I started a bad habit of trying to clean the back of tongue as much as possible when brushing teech, which often induced gagging.

By the time I entered college, my social anxiety had become very severe that at some point I stopped going to classes and stayed in my room all day websurfing and playing games. I had meals on an extremely irregular basis and rarely got up from the chair, not to mention I exercised very little. More than often I would have a meal right before going to bed, my stomach feeling terrible in the morning.

Currently I'm back from campus and managed to have a more 'normal' life, but this retching hasn't got better; it's actually aggravated. I don't feel hunger anymore no matter how long I don't eat. Even if my stomach is completely empty I'm afraid to have a bite of anything because I have to endure retching.

I'm going to have an endoscopy next month, but I would like to hear from experts here first. Other than gastritis/stomach cancer, what might have caused this retching? What foods do you recommend to minimize retching without compromising nutrition and how should I cook them? Also, what other tests should I have just in case the stomach looks normal?

hey! i also suffer from alot of wretching - i don't know what sort of things cause it and i am also going for a scope in a few weeks but the sorts of foods that i find aggrivate my wretching are anything thats got "fluffy" sorts of potato in. i find it just sticks there doesn't want to be swallowed. also, i hear that dairy isn't too good for it either.
things like yogurts and ice-cream and anything soft and cold i always find nice and easy on it and big chewed up mouthfuls rather than little bits seem to go down easier and sometimes larger things actually ease the wretching slightly, if only for a few seconds - a minute.

have you tried gaviscon? i find gaviscon helps my wretching more than anything else however it also only lasts around 10 minutes before it comes back. but any respite in my wretching is a relief, however short it is - so it might be worth a go :)

sorry i have no helpful advice, and this is probably really wafflely - hope you get something sorted soon though!
