Hi - I keep reading about one of the symptoms of lymphoma is itchy skin. For the past few months my legs would itch.....bad....I thought it was dry skin so I would put lotion on it and benadryl. It would take a long time for anything to stop the itching. That hasn't happened recently but what has is this.
I was brushing my teeth a few weeks ago and my left hand starting to itch...out of no where......so bad. I had never felt anything like it before.....then a blue lump (bruise) appeared and hurt so bad. I thought it was a blod vessell or clot. It was so painful......after about 1/2 hour it stopped..eventually the bruise went away. It hasn't happened since.
My brother had Hodgekins.....is it hereditary?
I have a large lymphnode under my arm. Had mammo and ultrasound. Not attached to the breast which is good because 2 of my sisters had breast cancer. But it is attached to the muscle which is strange.
I have lupus and sjogrens so I am a good candidate fr lymphoma (which is what my rheumy told me).
I went to a surgeon and he felt it but told me it is probably nothing....How does he know this? Told me if I feel like I need to have it out then to call him. I feel I do.....I called them....they are to call me this week to set it up.
For the last few months or so I have felt more tired and worn out. I have also been sweating....but not that much but I do wake up feeling like overwhelmed...like hot...like maybe my thyroid is off.....I have hashimotos.......but it is not.
I am so scared. I wonder if it lymphoma.
What do you think about the itchiness and especially the episode I had with my hand.
Thanks
Love this board.

It sounds to me like you need to get a new Dr. With your family history, you have every reason to feel nervous and they should be very understanding of your concerns. If you have a good Doctor that you trust, you would feel assured that you are fine. It sounds like you are having all kinds of symptoms because you are so stressed out from worrying. That kind of stress can do you more harm than anything! Find a doctor ASAP and ask them their opinion.

Lymphoma has many symptoms and it doesn't mean that everyone with lymphoma has the same symptoms or any of them for that matter. When a person has lymphoma without symptoms they are classified as the type of lymphoma, for the people who do have lymphoma and symptoms they are classifies with the type of lymphoma plus the letter B next to it, this indicates that they have symptoms. The itchy skin, night sweats
are common symptoms and the fact that you have an enlarged lymphnode on your armpit should raise a red flag. You said the doctor said it's nothing, you're right when you question "how does he know?" he doesn't. I would be very concerned, i would insist on a biopsy of that node you will get guaranteed answers. My mother and my aunt were both diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma and both had an enlarged lymphnode on their armit, i hope in your case that it's simply a cyst. To answer your question "is hodgkins hereditary? not always, though it is more common amongst siblings. The fact that you're more fatigued than usual can also be a sign. About your hand, i don't think it's anything maybe a little vessel, it does hurt for a bit and then does go away. Please insist on that biopsy. Best of luck to you.
