i was monogomous for 33 yrs, divorced, had one sexual partner who used a condom. my ex had unprotected sex after we divorced. we got back together and after a year of being together and faithful, i had an abnormal pap and was diagnosed with hpv. question is how long does it usuallytake for diagnosis after exposure.

While there is a very remote possibility that you have had it all this time (since your husband or before) but if it walks like a duck...

Having a bad PAP after being exposed to these new partners (yours and your husband's) within the last 2 years really does point towards it being a new thing. The timeline is perfect. When was your last previous PAP?

(btw, the fact that your one partner wore a condom really doesn't mean anything when it comes to HPV. For a condom to be of any use, that would have had to have been the ONLY contact you two had, no hands, no vulva, no other skin-to-skin, etc. Not likely, right?)

my last pap was in may of last year a month after i was with my partner, who had not had sex for 10 years. pap results were negative. i have been back with my ex for a year now, and we have both been monogomous during that time. he was sexually active for the year i was gone.

It really doesn't matter how long it has been since someone (you, your exhusband, or this other man) had a new partner, it really just matters how many partners a partner has had (at any point prior to you being with that partner). Each new partner increases each successive partner's risks of being exposed to at least one strain of HPV.
