I am so confused! How is it possible that a person gets HPV without sexual intercourse OR contact with genitals? Can you get it from using the restroom and touching something and then touching your genitals?

Kind of hard to answer that question. The simple answer is that there are over 100 strains of HPV and only about 20 of them are considered 'genital HPV' so you can technically get hpv from non-sexual contact, like warts of the hands (palmars warts) by shaking someone's hand.
I assume though that you talking about genital HPV? If so, high risk or low risk? What symptoms do you have?
