It is so inspirational to people like me when I see that there are others who have successfully quit short-term AND long-term. And Reach, I think it is very generous of you to continue to come back here and check on everyone and provide advice and support -- I mean, you could have just turned that page and closed the book.

I have one quick question about your 10% taper: When you got down to the <10 mg. doses, did you cut a mg at a time or still 10% at a time?

For example:

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

-or-

10, 9, 8.1, 7.3, 6.5, 6, 5.3, 4.8, 4.3.....etc.

I can see that the 10% formula really drags it out at the low milligrams. I'm still on 15 so I have a ways to go, but I understandably am getting excited about getting off it....so I was kind of taking a peek at the calculator to see how many more days are involved. Let me know what you found was best.

As you might know from past posts, that I never did do the 10% thing and dropped too much too fast and suffered because of it. From what I've learned, you should continue to taper 10-20% by cutting pills down to size until you get to a point where you think you're ready to jump off and go cold turkey. Someday you need to take your last dose. I took the plunge at 2.5 mg/day and I have mixed thoughts about whether I should have tapered further or be glad that I was over it when I was made the leap. I just wanted OFF of the pills. I use my withdrawal experience from jumping off when I did as a reminder what I went through to prevent me from going back on again. So I guess the w/d's for me was a positive thing. Everyone is different and experiences things differently. If your body is handling the tapering well, increase it a bit and see how it reacts. Pick a point and say, this is my last dose and go for it. You still have a long way to go to get your life, feelings, emotions and family trust back after that last dose. It's a life long journey after that last pill.
