Yes you can get infected. If she has an active outbreak and you give her oral sex, you can get it on you mouth, (which will become a cold sore, which is herpes too). And even if she doesn't have an active outbreak, it is always possible to pass it on to you, but it is less likely if she doesn't have an outbreak at the time. So you have to be super careful and use protection.
