I had the leep procedure done on my cervix and i had a follow up pap about a month later and hpv came up negitive...3 or 4 months later i had another follow up pap and it tested positive for hpv...what does this mean?

Hi Ashley, there are a few things that I can think of. First of all, when your doctor did your pap did he/she do the HPV test after the pap results came back abnormal, or did the doctor do two different swabs when he/she did the pap?
If the former, then from what I understand, that test isn't as accurate. If it was the latter, then it is possible that one strain of the virus was active, your body fought it, then it later was active with a different (or the same) strain of HPV.
