Recently, my two boys got in a fight (they are 7 and 9) and began to punch and kick for the private parts. My 9 year old put his foot on the 7 year old's testicles and began to pull on his foot to cause large amounts of pain to his testicles. I broke them up and my younger was crying from pain. His testicles may have been damaged.
I was wondering, will this, somehow in the future adversely affect my 7 year old's puberty? or even reproduction? or will he have ample time to recover?
I'm pretty worried about it.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not a doc, but suspect all will be well for puberty. Take a good look and make sure there is no redness, discoloration or swelling. Also, check with him about any ongoing pain or discomfort. If possible you may look for blood in the urine, although this is probably not likely. If all those things are OK, probably nothing to worry about. To make sure, it might be worth a call to the doctor. I'd be rich if I had money for every time I got kicked or hit there...amazing, we're pretty tough, but it hurts like hell!

I know this is a bit late, but I just joined this message board.
I am not a doctor, but I am a health care professional with some background in male reproductive research.
The best rule of thumb for scrotal/testicle trauma or injury is if the pain persists for longer than 30 minutes or if there is any bleeding or extreme bruising then see a physician or emergency room immediately, especially in young men and boys (ages pre-teen to 25. The concern with testicles is that the blood supply can become twisted or torsed cutting off the blood to the testicles. This is a very painful condition, and if it is not repaired within 12 hours of its occurence then the testicle will die, and it can NOT be salvaged. The doctor will then have to remove the testicle. If this condition occurs then every hour counts. If it is corrected within 6 hours then usually a full recovery is expected. Every hour after 6 and up to 12 (see above) increases the chances of long term testicle damage.
The good news is that even if one testicle is lost the boy/young man will probably have a normal puberty and will maintain his fertility. As long as there is one testicle things should work out fine. The remaining testicle usually gets a little larger (depending on the age of the boy/man) and kind of works overtime to make up for the loss.
I hope everything went well with your son.

Hi I am 14 and I have a brother 15. Well we were skatebording out front of my house. We then got in to a fight and I fell on the ground with me legs wide open. Then he came over to me and steped on my nuts, and he said to stay away from his girl and he steped on them harder. He didn't have no boots on he had Vans skatebording snekers it still hurts. But that was last week and my nuts still hurt. what should I do?

Hey! You poor thing. Your brother should NOT have done that and you need to tell somebody what he did-don't worry-although you may be telling on him its better that way than him doing it again. What he did was really wrong.
If your still in lots of pain, its best to see a doctor. I'm sure all is well but it's best to be on the safe side or to get some perscribed pain killers
if you need them.
Take care!
