It isn't good for your liver.

I got very sick on just plain Tylenol one time. I believe it was an old bottle but
I do not care to try it again and find out.

Doesn't vicodin have tylenol in it to begin with?

dolejaly,
You're quite right- Vicodin does have tylenol in it already. It's a combo of
hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen (generic Tyleonol)

I thought so, I take VICOPROFEN, which doesn't have Tylenol in it, but has Motrin, which helps w/ pain better for me....

Saw this question posted and wanted to put in my 2 cents. There is a push on the remove both Vicodin and Percocet from the market because of all the people who then take acetaminophen(Tylenol) along with them when they already have the maximum dose in it. So you are actually overdosing on the acetaminophen(the 2 pain drugs would come back out minus the acetaminophen).

And here's the problem. Most people think if it's over the counter it can't hurt me. With acetaminophen that's WRONG. Acetaminophen overuse causes half of all the cases of liver failure in the US. And liver failure means death unless you can get a transplant. A single deliberate overdose of acetaminophen may not kill you immediately but it can put you into liver failure and you die a slow death instead.

So NO...never take Tylenol and Vicodin together. And if you've been doing so, tell your doc and have a liver function test done to make sure you haven't damaged your liver already.

Oh...and don't drink with either drug.....that can really do you in!

Jenny(lost a friend to acetaminophen induced liver failure)
