So i've been having these episodes of week long (more or less) chest pains for I'd say half a year now. I went to a GI specialist and she told me that it's probably acid reflux and I scheduled an Endoscopy which will take place in a few weeks.

I'm concerned though because the pain renders me unable to eat or drink even water due to the massive pain. I've been taking Prilosec for a few days now but nothing's happened. I'm thinking it's some kind of inflammation in my chest but as I'm not a doctor i can't say for sure.

Is this a normal symptom of reflux or could this be something worse?

Well I get sharp chest pain all the time its very frustrating, I have had 2 endoscopys and they were normal but nothing seems to work for me, I read on another thread that the chest pain can be due to a lack of magnesium so I'm trying supplements and eating spinach ever day to see if that helps.

Your chest pain could be esophageal spasms. I get them so bad it feel like what must be a heart attack. I know it is spasms, so I don't panic. I usually try to eat soda crackers and drink some water very slowly until it goes away. I have had these since 1981. I recently found out that taking a muscle relaxer at bed time (as that is when I usually get them) really helps.

Yes, it is not normally food related, I usually get it from taking ibuprofen.
