Hi,
My DD is 15 Months. At her 12 Month Well-Check, she was supposed to get her MMR. I asked if we could wait a little longer and the Dr. said she didn't recommend waiting longer than 15 months. I'm going with her recommendation and taking her for her MMR today. I have no Autism in my family nor does my husband, but I am a worrier especially with this being linked to vaccines so much in the news lately. I have done some research online about the subject. I do remember reading on this Board that you should not give your child Tylenol before being vaccinated. I can't find that thread now. Can anyone tell me why? I have done it in the past and thought I was helping. What is the risk of doing this? Thanks so much. Her appt is this afternoon.

Hi again,
No responses.

Update: My DD did not get her MMR because the dr told me I could hold off on getting it until my daycare realized she didn't have it. So we are going to wait a little longer to get it. When do you recommend we get it? Is 18 Months a good time? (My daughter is in the 90th percentile for height and weight.) I also read they can give it in three shots, but then I read that they don't make them separate anymore. Any info you have would be a great help.

I worked in a pediatrics office. There is no need to give a pain reliever/fever reducer before an injection because it doesn't help with the pain of the shot. You can give it to them after wards if there is alot of pain and discomfort or if a fever occurs. Most of the time it hurts at first but after they are cuddled by mom or dad the pain subsides with in a minute or so. I have given injections to kids and they don't even flinch and I am talking about little little kids.
