Has anyone been on this combination? Is the Lexapro helpful with the anxiety/panic? Just got taken off Seroquel. I have Bipolar with ultra-ultra rapid cycling, Major Depression and severe anxiety. I also take xanax and Ambien for sleep. I am just afraid of antidepressants causing increased mania. Any info on side effects? How is this med in relation to weight gain/loss (loss would be nice for a change!)? It's been H*LL living inside the prison of my mind and body. Thanks.

I took it back when I was misdiagnosed with major depression. It caused weight gain and sexual side effects, but I that's a risk with any of the SSRI's.

Some bipolar people can tolerate anti-depressants, others can't. It did help me get my anxiety down to a manageable, but not well controlled level.

That's too bad seroquel didn't work for you--it's worked better on my anxiety than anything else I've been on.

Well I started hallucinating on the Seroquel which doesn't make sense I know.

WEIGHT GAIN NOOOOOOO. I just finally lost weight! Did you exercise when on the meds? Or did it make you hungry? Or did it just seem to make you gain weight for no reason? Guess I don't have to worry about the sexual side effects since I'm not sexually active....too afraid.....I avoid relationships like the plague. I wish I didn't have to but I can't see anyone being able to understand my ups and downs and I put all my energy into taking care of my son and then completely collapse when he goes to his dad's. Doesn't leave much room for men...lol. ):.

Thanks Bunnylover :).

tattoos, I took lexapro for maybe about a month and did not gain any weight. I hope you have the same experience.

Thanks Llama, I hope so too. Are you still on it? Did it help anxiety? I'm going to check out the new thread you posted and see what's happening with the IP situation for you.

I am no longer on lexapro. I took it quite some time ago. I do remember it making me feel calm so I guess it did help with anxiety. Plus I know someone else who is on it for anxiety and she says it works like a charm for her. She says her life is so different with it, in a good way.

I SURE HOPE SO. I feel like crap and can't breath. I am miserable inside myself. I am praying this will do the trick! I am sick of crying so much, along with the other million emotions I have per hour!

I was on the combination for quite a while until it just stopped working for me. I did notice a weight gain despite exercising which only frustrated me so I stopped exercising as I figured what was the point and I had enough trouble just getting through a day at work. I don't have anxiety per se (only in certain circumstances) but did find that while I was on the combination in those circumstances it was a bit less. Good Luck!
