I take Flaxseed Omega III's, and they seem to help (I am on meds, though). My medicating psychiatrist did tell me that some people with bp are maintained on very high dosages of Omega III's. You should check it out with your pdoc, though. I haven't researched it.

Good luck!

I have been taking Omega III's for about a month now. I think it is having a positive effect. Not long enough to tell for sure. Pdoc insisted I take high dose of vitamin D. Tried it at 2 different times and found it made me feel agitated and even easily angered.

If you take Omega 3's, remember to find a brand that screens out heavy metals (especially mercury)--the last thing our brains need is mercury poisioning.

I don't take omega 3's directly, but I tend to feel better when I eat a diet high in fish, particulary tuna and salmon, and low in dairy, so that's another option for people.

I take 1000mg of calcium/day, to help ward of osteoporosis--I'm afraid my past eating disorder might make me vulnerable, although my doctor thinks not.

Always check with your pdoc before starting any herbal/vitamin/mineral suplement--with our crazy med. cocktails, you never know what might provoke an interaction.
