I had an unfortunate experience with overlays... first, several days of pain; second, overlays popping off and taking nail layers with them. Now I have terrible thin nails which are soft and peeling like crazy. Is there any solution or protection I can use while they grow out? One person recommended Nail Tek (I think she meant the polish and conditioner). I bought one protective overcoat (Sally Hansen Protein) and it just popped off and took more peeling layers with it. Help! Thanks.

Go to your local Sally Beauty Supply and purchase a 3-way buffer. Use the black side to remove peeling layers, the white side to remove any scratches adn teh gray side to polish to a high shine. Do not over-buff or use too much pressure to smooth the peeling layers. The nails will be thin until they grow out completely which can take from 3-6 months depending on your genetics for nail growth.

Thank you very much. Marti or anyone else, should I be using any special cuticle oil or hand conditioner to help with the healing process? Thanks again.
