I am on adarol for depression and tiredness. I tried 15 mg and 20 mg. I am not feeling exceptionally wakeful on this dosage. Is it dangerous to take higher dosage than 20mg or is there another medication that would help wake me up. I also suffer from fibromialgia and this keeps me very tired also.

hello, Lana.

Adderall does NOT help depression, You should speak to your doctor about an anti-depressant.

Adderall is for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). These medications have also been used to help Nacrcolepsey and diseases where fatigue is a symptom.
ADD medications are a legal form of speed and they have many side effects but not limited to --

- Rapid heart beat (heart palpatations)
- chest pains
- heart attack
- stroke
- Irrability
- anger
- violence

Can Adderall be increased? Yes, by your Physician.

If you are finding Adderall is not helping with your fatigue you might look at other options such as a sleep study to determine if you have a sleep disorder.

Anti-depressants and ADD medication can be take together. These medications treat different things.

On the contrary, stimulants have a long history of treating depression and fatigue, in addition to ADHD and narcolepsy, indeed, before the current crop of re-uptake inhibitors, treating depression with stimulants was very common. Use of Adderall for treatment of depression now is often limited to those that do not respond to the SRI type meds, but it still happens.

Adderall can be prescribed well above 20mg, though it's up to the doctor to make that call, talk to them and see how they feel.

I agree with the above posts. In addition, if you are looking for an anti-depressant, I've heard that Wellbutrin is a good choice if you are concerned about a lack of energy. This medication is an "upper" that shouldn't make you drowsy.

I just got prescribed Adderall 30mg XR and Zoloft 150MG daily. These drugs together I have taken in the past for about 2 years. I really liked how I felt on both of them, when I was just on Zoloft I didn't feel any changes in my depression, and I have been diagnosed with Manic Depression and ADD, so that is why the Adderall. I was not able to stay awake in the mornings, mid afternoons, afternoons and nights, I could sleep all 24 hours if I could have, but being I do have things I have to take care of around this house, I work from home and have 3 cats and 2 doggies to take care of. Not to mention tons of housework, I was not getting anything done for months except light housekeeping and keeping my pets clean, fed and catered too, but that wasn't enough, I felt worthless and mad all the time because I just could not wake UP!! Well, I debated around about going back on Adderall 30mg XR because I hate any type of speed pill or having to depend on anything to keep me awake, but after struggling for the 6 mos I have been off the meds, I went back on and today is my very first day on a 30mg xr pill I took about 2 hours ago and I feel amazing!! I don't feel like I am all speedy, I feel actually normal, like how one should feel after being out of bed for a couple of hours, I am up on the computer doing some research I needed to get done, I am going to get to work on a Resume I have put off for a year now, I am getting all my ducks in a row and today is just day one, I am already so proud of myself for going back on a medication I know that I need to be on. I never had any problems with over taking on my Adderall in the past and have no intentions on taking over what I am prescribed now. I am allowed to take 2 30 mg XR a day and that is plenty, heck with the way I feel I probably will only do one a day, I do not have my health insurance effective yet, so that prescription was over $300 dollars and I surely cannot afford that a month (well I can but refuse to pay it) My husband demanded we got it at the pharmacy because he see's me suffering. So I am going to work on my health insurance today and get that into effect and was told that they will reimburse me some funds that I am paying out of pocket so even if they gave me 1/2 of that prescription back I would be so greatful. I am on a few other meds for high blood pressure and cholestrol, depression, anxiety, upset stomach, etc, so my bills are way over 1K a month right now with just my MEDS, not including my Family Doctors Prices. But like I said I am getting a good health policy that is current, I just need to do a signature and get my cards, but it was ok for me to go see my Doctor before I get my cards, so no my Medications will not be pre-existing I made sure of that and they are new scripts. Anyway I really want to get my act together and get things done I have been procrastinating for over a year now and I believe this pill is really going to help me with that. I was having a lot of trouble concentrating, and when I would start something I would stop and never finish and had a million projects going but forgot what and when I started what I was doing, I have trouble listening to anyone and have to be told over and over again, because I just don't pay attention prior to Adderall XR, so I am thankful for this drug. I do feel for those who take it for a HIGH sensation that DO NOT NEED IT, because it makes it so much harder on us whom are sick to get it. I actually had no problems getting my medicaitons because I know what I am talking about and know how to talk to Doctors, explain my symptoms professionally and never been denied a medication, which is great. So good luck to all of us out there who really Need to be using Adderall, Adderall XR, I do have a question, has anyone take just the Adderall? not the XR? because that prescription is much less than the XR and I may have to switch, I just like the long acting effect and not having to take pills. Please advise. I am happy they did come out with a Generic this year in April, because I could only imagine what the price would have been as a brand name, instead of over $300 I am sure more up to $600 or more!! ok take care all, Annie :))
