hey, i'm 17 and there's a big history of bipolar in my family. i don't know whether i suffer from it or not, but i suspect that there's a pretty decent chance that it might surface in the future. i've never been on any medication for the disorder. i'm interested in trying magic mushrooms and lsd. could this trigger off the bipolar or have any other adverse effects?

I would definitely stay away from drugs if you suspect you have bipolar disorder. They could cause you to hallucinate and that's the last thing you want. Please be careful and stay away from them!

yes if there is a propensity to bp these drugs could cause it to develop. you may never develop bp even though there is a family history of it. my children have had depressive episodes but with early treatment they are all free of it at the moment. only one of my nephew has had depressive also but the rest of them are completely free of it. at least you are aware of the possibilities and if you feel that there is a problem at any time try and get to a gp to discuss what is going on.
