Hi,

I'm about 10 days out from having a portion of my left kidney removed laparoscopically and I have a question about blood in my urine.

I left the hospital 3 days after surgery and for the next 3 days my urine was clear. Starting at day 6 I started to see blood in my urine. Most days I see a faint reddish tint and at night, after I haven't peed in a few hours, it's redder. To date it's never been darker than watered down cranberry juice. I've spoken with my doctor and he said this is "normal".

I'm looking to hear what other people's experiences have been with post-op blood in urine. I'm sure, as my doctor said, it's normal, but any time I see blood coming out of me I'm a bit freaked out!

Does anyone see a correlation with activity? I've been relatively sedentary, but the question is, should I be basically hanging out in bed more?

Thanks

David

I'm a woman, and 57, and had a laproscopic NSS in April 09. I was in 5 days; blood tinged urine tapered off and went to microscopic after about 12 days. Everyone's different; just check with your urologist if need be, and I hope you are healing fully!
