I read on another topic about circumcison that you get and injection on the base of the penis. Is this true?
If this is true, is that the only way they can put you to sleep, I dont understand why do they have to put it in the base of the penis that must pain.
And another question whats the difference between general anasthetic and local anasthetic. Thanks for help http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif (sorry for any incorrect spelling)

Hey Notorious_1.

A general anaesthetic is when they "put you to sleep". A local anaesthetic is when they "paralyse" the area to be operated on so there is no feeling in that area while the operation is being performed.

I'm using the Australian spelling for "anaesthetic".

I do not know where the local anaesthetic injection would be for a circumcision.

If they put you to sleep, they will give you an IV through the arm near your elbow, hand, or wrist, then they can administer the medicine to put you to sleep through that.

If you get a local anesthetic, they would inject the area that needs it directly. Conceivably, they may need to inject the penis itself to numb it. This wouldn't be necessary if you were to be put to sleep though.

Sometimes, they can use an epidural which is an injection into the spine, that will numb you from that point down. This is a little more invasive as it can numb things you don't want numbed, but it is very effective - you won't feel a thing. I don't think they would use this for such a minor surgery as circumcision though.

Dude this friend of mine had it done and they did enject his unit with stuff to make it numb. He said they poked it about 4-5 times all around to numb it. He was awake through the proceedure and they cut with scissors and sewed him up. I drove him home after the operation he said the night woodies were painful at first but as it healed they went away.

Why would a grown man want a Circumcision if it was not a medical emergency?

I never had one & always wondered why anyone would do such a thing. My sons never had them either.

Have to agree with Gine.

Theres no medical reason for geting Circumcised, so why would u bother, especially as a grown man?
