A dorsal slit is a tiny incision made in the foreskin lengthwise. This slit allow the foreskin to expand more, and is sometimes done as a treatment for phimosis (tightness and inability to retract foreskin).

It is NOT the same as circumcision. Circumcision cuts off most of the foreskin. A dorsal slit just makes a tiny cut in the foreskin to make it looser so it can retract more easily behind the head. It's a good alternative to circumcision if you're having problems retracting and stretching excercises and ointments haven't worked.
